As your Sheriff . . .

I’m honored to serve as your sheriff, and I take that responsibility seriously. Since taking office, I’ve focused on using your tax dollars wisely, putting deputies where they’re needed most, and making sure every member of the team - from dispatchers to deputies - has the tools and training to do their job well. My goal is simple: a sheriff’s office that works hard, communicates openly, and delivers the kind of service our county deserves.

✅ What we’ve gotten done since I took office

  • +2 full-time deputies & +1 lieutenant – easing workload and improving work product

  • Cut down on reliance on part-time employees – creating consistency and opportunities for employees

  • Fixed pay scales – we've removed inconsistencies and boosted pay for various roles

  • Brought back the Community Action Team – proactive deputies who tackle problem areas and address your concerns with no time constraints

  • Reinstated the Narcotics Unit – back to actively targeting drug dealers in your neighborhood

  • Partnered up – assigned deputies to federal/state task forces for bigger reach and expensive resource availability

  • Invested in our people – more training + better tools + higher standards = a better employee

  • Talked with everyone – county commission, legislators, business owners, and citizens to keep your needs front and center. I stand firm that we are not just here to serve the community, we will be an active part of the community in every way possible.

  • Significantly improved retention across all divisions - I credit the team that I'm building with vastly improving retention by caring for each employee

  • Built up our bicycle unit - Between the Chief Ladiga Trail, Coldwater Mountain Bike Trails, various races, and community events - I wanted to make sure that we are there to help you feel safe!

  • Bolstered Court Security - I've added a deputy to the courthouse to increase the safety of our court staff and citizen visitors

🎯 What we’re working on next

  • Better sheriff’s office facilities – more welcoming, more accessible. Our building is difficult to locate and confusing when approached. I'm working on that.

  • Keep replacing part-time roles with full-time positions - more opportunities for current employees to grow

  • Keep advocating for fair pay – stay competitive and keep good people here

  • Start inmate programs that matter – real skills, less repeat crime, a safer community

  • More training & professional growth for deputies - I will continue to search for ways to grow our employees

  • Keep modernizing equipment & tech – safer, faster, more efficient

  • Stay engaged – schools, churches, business owners, and citizens stay part of the conversation. If there is a community event, we want to be a part of it.

  • Court Security - We're working with our partners to increase the safety of our courthouse in many ways

Closing message

We’ve made great progress, but we’re just getting started. With your support, we can keep building a sheriff’s office that is professional, fair, and focused on what matters most — keeping our communities safe and our county moving forward.
